LINGERIE GUIDE

WELCOME TO THE LINGERIE GUIDE

Here we will break down what all the different styles are and they relate to your level of comfort! We’ll also cover what NOT to wear and colors to avoid!!

My experience with Rachel was absolutely amazing! She made me feel so comfortable throughout the whole process and the photos turned out amazing. She can make anyone look like a model. She truly gave me the confidence boost I needed postpartum. Can’t wait to do it again!

STYLING FOR ALL BABES

One of the most popular options for boudoir is the bodysuit; aka the teddy. Bodysuits are typically less ornate than teddies, but in today’s fashion they are essentially one in the same.

If you’re wanting more of a conservative styling; this is the way to go! Some women are intimidated to buy them, but treat it like you’re buying a one piece bathing suit. If your “problem area” is your tummy, this is the perfect styling to look hot and sexy and de-emphasize a potentially not-so-favorite part of your body.

BODYSUITS & TEDDIES

High-waisted panties look amazing on any body type. They provide more coverage to the tummy area to allow for a set of cute separates while not “revealing it all,” if you know what I mean.

One of our babes here is actually wearing shape wear! It’s a popular and sexy option for curvy ladies who want the slimming effect of shape ware as well as the coverage. Pair it with a cute bralette and you’re all set! Be careful with sizing here, though. You want to make sure you size up so that it isn’t too tight since it won’t be worn under a garment. Also- get a pair with a thong back! You’ll thank us later!

HIGH WAISTED PANTIES

A garter belt is worn around the waist or hips with attached garters (fasteners) to hold up stockings. Sometimes garters are build into lingerie so a belt is not needed (see image to the left). The stockings they hold up are called “thigh highs” because they are pulled up to the thigh.

This look is hands down our FAVORITE! Any body type can rock gartered lingerie. As you see in the two images above, you can opt for the high-waisted type for more coverage, or go with a bra and panty set with the belt. Either way this look is hot, hot, hot! Sometimes our clients are intimidated by purchasing this look because there are so many pieces! We promise it’s worth the effort! We even help you attach the garter straps at your session… because how any woman can manage that alone is one of the worlds biggest mysteries.

GARTER BELTS

Show off those abs!! Bra and panty sets are for the babe who is ready to bare it all! Aside from doing nudes, this is the most revealing of our styling options. You can do a lot here: casual Calvin Kleins, lace matching sets, comfy basics, strappy pieces, etc.

Best rule of thumb: size up on panties! And make sure the bra band isn’t too tight. A lot of women tell us that when shopping for bra and panties for boudoir, they likely won’t wear them on a regular basis because they were sized to fit best with clothes OFF!

Demi-bras are often preferred to push up bras for boudoir, but you know your body best! Try out both styles to ensure you’ve got a great fit, and that when you lay on your back there isn’t a big gap between your breast and the cup.

*If you’re wanting to wear a bra and panty set, but you don’t want to show your tummy, we suggest pairing it with a sexy silk kimono! That way we can pose you and the kimono in a way that takes our eyes away from the tummy area.

BRA & PANTY SETS

The sexiest thing about a woman is the fact that she is sexy wearing anything. If you want to go for a cut off tank top (hellooooo wet t-shirt look!) or a pair of sporty panties (Beyonce reference, anyone? YES!), OR a casual white sheet draped over you like you came straight out of a sexy Hollywood film… the possibilities are endless!

In the studio we provide fresh sheets for every client who opts to swap that for an outfit.

Okay, girl. Just hear us out! We see hundreds of women every year and have learned a couple things that just tend to not work. Either in general, or for the style and aesthetic we aim to provide you. Here are a few things we suggest leaving at home and why!

Babydolls.
Skip right over this one. We’ve found that no matter what the body type is, babydoll’s add bulk to the body and make women appear larger on camera. Opt for more fitted options like a bodysuit. If you’re really drawn to the style, we much more prefer a silk chemise over a babydoll. Chemises are often times more elegant and sophisticated than babydolls.

Corsets.
Corsets are super hard to pose with. Because of the plastic boning, once we get you sitting, stretching, flexing, etc. the garment doesn’t stay in place. It also bends in at odd places at your waist and can really be an unflattering look. We also find that they are often times not long enough for most torso’s, so for ladies with a little extra in their mid-section, it ends up pushing the tummy out the bottom of the garment.

If you like the style at the bust, consider a bustier!

Miscellaneous.
Avoid oversized mens shirts. We LOVE the white button up look, but bring one that fits YOU! This goes for sports jerseys too. They are often way too big and look bulky and awkward on our gorgeous clients.

Leave weapons of any kind at home. Firearms are not permitted on studio property for the safety of RJS staff and clients alike. We love a babe who can carry, but we just ask that you leave firearms at home or safely stowed in your vehicle.

Props. It’s best to shoot us a quick email if you’re unsure about a certain item, but we generally discourage the use of props in boudoir sessions. We KNOW you are sexy AF holding a fishing pole or football, but your boudoir session is about YOU! Props can really distract from the process of focusing on bringing out the very best in you, and instead put the focus on how to make a prop look believable in the setting we’re in.

Colors to avoid:

Hot pink
Electric blue
Cherry red (the really bright kind of red)
Neon green
Bright orange
Neon yellow
Hot purple
Camo

Stick with neutrals and jewel tones when you can! You can never wear enough black. And white is extremely sexy and sometimes underrated in the world of lingerie!

Remember: we are photographing YOU first and foremost. The lingerie is secondary. You are the star of the show, babe.
